Even printing passwords on paper is very unsafe and not recommended. Exporting to unencrypted file is pretty much for our support purposes when someone has problems with database and also it is not recommended to use.

idea is to have a backup of passwords. Backup in unencrypted files are unsafe if user is unsure for system infection.

How is an unencrypted file unsafe, when you're planning to print out your passwords onto an unencrypted sheet of paper?

Stickypassword & paul726, u both r correct, using printed passwords in daily life is unsafe BUT keeping printed passwords in a safe place for a situation like hdd crash, corrupt database is better than unencrypted file

Why on earth has this got over a hundred votes? If you're in an environment where you can print out passwords without fear of them being seen, then there cannot be anyone in that same vicinity who should not see a the plain text file on-screen!

You can save the encrypted database anywhere - USB, external HDD, cloud, email, whenever you want. It will still be safer then printed file. If anyone need to have printed file of all of his passwords, then he probably does not need password management tool.
